The Laboratory

Tradition and Innovation

For over 50 years, the historic laboratory in the heart of Rome has been a symbol of artisanal mastery, located in the vibrant Rione Borgo Vittorio, just steps away from the Vatican. In this neighborhood rich in history and culture, Mariano and Marco Riccardi, together with their team, created unique works—authentic expressions of talent and passion—surrounded by a creative energy that made every day an inspiring experience.

Today, while keeping this legacy alive, the laboratory has relocated to a larger, more functional space at Via Augusto Persichetti 5, 00166 Rome. This new laboratory represents a step toward innovation, with spaces designed to meet the demands of modern, high-quality production. The decision to internalize production processes that were previously outsourced has led to optimized workflows and space utilization, improving efficiency and ensuring direct control over every operational phase. The Via Persichetti laboratory enables us to embrace new challenges with confidence, maintaining our balance between tradition and modernity.

The historic location at Borgo Vittorio remains a treasured asset for the company, now dedicated to preserving models, molds, and prototypes. This indispensable archive stands as a testament to the roots and growth of the company, showcasing the journey that has brought the art of bronze and metals to new horizons.

DESIGN

Marco Riccardi’s laboratory strikes a perfect balance between quality, research, and craftsmanship, where design is continuously refined with care and vision, always looking to the future.

Being a bronzesmith means mastering every phase of the process, from the project’s conception to its final realization. Each creation first takes shape on paper, meticulously planned with precision and creativity, laying the foundation for an artistic process elevated to a true “architecture of art.”

The creative journey begins with client consultation and needs analysis, gathering inspirations, stylistic preferences, and technical details to define the client’s objectives and vision.

Next comes the ideation and sketching phase, where conceptual sketches and prototypes are developed to explore forms and details. Once the model is created, the most suitable materials are selected to achieve the desired aesthetics and durability.

Following prototyping, the process moves to technical design and modeling. Detailed drawings with precise measurements are prepared, often using 3D modeling software to visualize the final result and anticipate any technical challenges. Every aspect is meticulously assessed, including the most appropriate casting and finishing techniques.

Finally, the development of a working prototype or model takes place to test proportions, materials, and the feasibility of the final design. This ensures that every piece meets Marco Riccardi’s high standards of quality and beauty, embodying his signature artistry and craftsmanship.

CREATION

Marco Riccardi’s laboratory is a valuable point of reference for working with bronze and other metals in Rome. Few laboratorys can boast decades of experience combined with techniques that evolve daily through constant research and experimentation. Marco Riccardi and his team firmly believe that growing means never stopping learning.

Manual skills are at the heart of artistic expression, just as the availability of advanced machinery, appropriate spaces, and an inspiring work environment is crucial. In this balance between tradition and innovation, every creation signed “Marco Riccardi” comes to life, uniting art and craftsmanship.
